1. Introduction
CIKE provides comprehensive support for international students who wish to enter language institutes, colleges, universities, and vocational schools in Korea and Japan. Our guidelines explain requirements, exams, procedures, documents, and timelines clearly so students can prepare confidently and correctly.
2. General Admission Requirements
Basic Eligibility
- Valid passport
- Completion of high school (or equivalent qualification)
- Official academic transcripts
- Proof of financial capability (sponsor documents & bank statement)
- Passport-sized identification photos
- Statement of Purpose (SOP)
- No history of school dropout or visa overstay in other countries
- Clean criminal record (if required)
Language Requirements
- Korea: TOPIK Level 3–4 recommended (varies by university/major)
- Japan: JLPT N2–N1 recommended (varies by university/major)
3. Entrance Exam Requirements
Korea
- TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean)
- University-administered Korean language placement test
- Major-specific exams (Arts, Music, Physical Education, Design, etc.)
- Interview (online or in-person)
- Portfolio (design or art-related majors)
Japan
- EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students)
- Japanese language
- Mathematics (Course 1 or 2)
- Science (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) or “Japan and the World”
- JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) — N2 or higher recommended
- University-specific written exams, essays, or interviews
- Portfolio (art, architecture, design-related majors)
4. Standard Admission Timeline
Step 1: Initial Counseling
- Identify student’s goals, academic history, budget, and preferred country
- Recommend suitable schools, majors, and programs
Step 2: Document Preparation
- Passport copy
- High school diploma & transcripts
- Bank statements & financial sponsorship documents
- SOP & recommendation letters
- Photos and application forms
- Translation & notarization (if required)
Step 3: Application Submission
- CIKE submits the application package to the institution
- School reviews documents and requests corrections if necessary
Step 4: Entrance Exam / Interview
- Students sit for required exams or interviews
- Portfolio or additional materials submitted for special majors
Step 5: Acceptance & COA/COE Issuance
- COA (Certificate of Admission) for Korea / COE (Certificate of Eligibility) for Japan
- Students make tuition and dormitory payments
Step 6: Visa Application
- Prepare and submit visa application to the embassy
- Financial verification, interview (if required), health documents (case-by-case)
- Monitor visa approval status
Step 7: Departure & Arrival
- Pre-departure briefing
- CIKE arranges airport pickup and accommodation
- Settlement support (bank, SIM, residency registration, orientation)
5. Required Document Checklist
Essential Documents
- Valid passport (minimum 6 months before expiration)
- High school diploma (original)

- Bank statement (last 6 months)
- Sponsor’s employment certificate / business registration
- Sponsor’s income certificate or tax report
- Application form provided by the institution

6. Selection Criteria
Universities evaluate applicants based on:
- Academic performance & attendance history
- Language proficiency (JLPT / TOPIK)
- Financial stability of the sponsor
- Authenticity & completeness of documents
- SOP clarity and consistency of student’s goals
- Interview performance
- Portfolio or exam results (if required)
- Student’s immigration history (overstay records may cause rejection)
